Events in Central New Hampshire

Native plants provide so many benefits to pollinators, birds, and the environment.  They’re also often low maintenance choices that do well in less than ideal soils and growing conditions such as too much or too little water.  Learn from our special guest, Ray from Prides Corner Farms, about using and caring for these plants and get a preview of what we have for you this season in our garden center.

Break out the neon and tease that hair—we’re going back in time! Join us for a Totally Tubular 80s Bingo Night at the library. Whether you’re a “material girl” or just want to “walk like an Egyptian,”  this is going to be a “righteous” afternoon of nostalgia and fun. Students will incorporate Zen Doodle designs within an owl, which will be matted and ready for framing. Suzan will take your design and make 4 cards for you to use. Cards will be available at the shop on May 22nd.

Enjoy the musical talents of Jared Steer on drums and Chris White. You can find WhiteSteer playing great music most nights of the week at your favorite northern New Hampshire spots. They’ve played at virtually every ski mountain in Northern NH, as well as many of NH’s great watering holes, restaurants, and events! Chris White and Jared Steer know how to have a good time, while providing great music for crowds of all sorts! 8-11pm

The music and energy of two legendary stadium rock bands comes together in one electrifying show! Their repertoire of classics hits by Foreigner and Journey provide a crowd-pleasing night of unforgettable music. Get your wine coolers, mullets and stone washed jean vests ready for a night of sing along debauchery and dance grooves that will pop you from your seats. From heartwarming power ballads like “Faithfully,” “I Want to Know What Love Is,” to anthems like “Feels Like The First Time,” “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Cold As Ice” and “Any Way You Want It”  FJ – featuring vocalists from American Idol are more than a tribute band. They’re a time machine, and their energy is infectious!

Join us at Art Escapes Stoneware Peacock Glazing workshop for a night of creative fun! Paint and personalize your own stoneware. Learn peacock glazing technique with local instructor Jeannie. Beginners and seasoned artist’s welcome.

This is a glazing workshop we will not be hand building the pottery but glazing already made pieces with the peacock technique.

With the freedom to choose colors that match your decor, your creation will truly reflect your personal style. Say goodbye to boring dishes and hello to a vibrant addition to your kitchen!

Masterpiece will be fired and ready to pick up the following Friday.
To participate in our Stoneware Glazing Workshop, please make sure to select and purchase a piece to glaze at the time of booking. Reservations without a purchased project will be canceled.

Head to Town Square just in time for lunch as area restaurants vie for the coveted title of best local chowder!  Admission fee covers generous samples (up to 24oz!) of chowder and a voting ballot to name the best chowder of this year.

Plus enjoy free live music in the Town Square Gazebo and lawn games!

Join us in Town Square for the Squam Lakes Natural Science Center Animal Encounter Series! Live animal presentations will be shown by expert naturalists. Native wildlife ambassadors will inform and inspire children, adults, and families alike. Animal Encounter Events take place for free every Sunday (and select Mondays) this summer, beginning at 10am in the Lower Level of Town Square.

Ignite Your Creativity! Torch-Blown Glass Workshop at Art Escape Join us for an exciting torch-blown glass workshop where you can create stunning plant watering globes or German-style ornaments! Whether you’re making something for yourself or a gift, this hands-on class is sure to be a memorable experience.

What to Expect Begin with a live demo, where we’ll show you how to melt and shape molten glass into beautiful creations. Then, take the torch and craft your own one-of-a-kind plant watering globes or ornaments.

Materials Included
3 glass tubes to practice and perfect your designs (don’t worry, surprises and funky shapes are part of the fun!)

•  A colorful array of glass frit to customize your creations
•  While most participants will create up to 3 projects, the number may vary.
